Welcome to 2017!

The clock seems to turn faster every year. Now my sons Kevin and Alexander are about the same age that I was in when I founded the Westerwälder Baumdienst back in the eighties. Thanks to our customer's loyalty the success of the Westerwälder Baumdienst laid the foundation of Baumdienst Siebengebirge covering an ever larger region across the Rhine valley area and beyond. Today Kevin and Alexander Blackburn are leading our family company together with me. Luke as their younger brother is in his last year of training and comprehensive studies to become a European Treeworker. We often get inquiries of young people enthusiastic about tree climbing and asking about the requirements to become a tree inspector or surgeon. I very much enjoy the appreciation for our exciting profession. In this blog we will catch up with Luke in his final year of becoming a European Treeworker and Luke is going to share some of his experiences with us. We will also report about especially challenging jobs from our teams. And we will supply you with professional tips and tricks about tree care around the year and how to protect your trees and hedges best against storms, diseases and man-made influences. I very much look forward accompanying you through the year and would just as much invite you to participate in this blog by sharing your ideas and wishes. All the Best for the New Year Gary Blackburn

Dear Gary, I remember the time that you came to Germany, didn’t speak a word of German and started your company, bought a house and so on. “What a crazy courageous Englishman!” I thought back then. Within the shortest time you had a great company running. I have recommended Baumdienst Siebengebirge countless times and customers were always !!! pleased. Your sons do a great job as well. Keep it up! Many greetings! Birgit Pees, Immobilienteam Pees

Gary, I really admire your entrepreneurial spirit, especially considering how smooth you manage the transition to the next generation! This is the real foundation of Germany and Europe. Well done, keep up the great work and all the best for your family and team in 2017! Kind regards, David

Liebe Siebengebirgs-Baumdienstler,

Joachim Klahn

A comment to a friend from college that I was going to Köln started this connection. She sent me the details for Baumdienst Siebengebirge, that was 2014. I am now working the 3rd winter season, and enjoy coming back to work with my friends.
I enjoy the different and varied work that is undertaken that is always to a high standard.

i first went to work for gary blackburn almost 6 years ago, as a self employed arborist, and have been going over to germany to work 2 tor 3 times a year since. i have always enjoyed the work and good atmosphere at baumdienst, and although quite expereienced i have still learnt much more about the nature of trees and the nature of the job. i still hope to continue going there to work, . gary has been a hard worker and his business has been most successful, with the help of his 3 sons kevin, alex and luke who are excellent climbers .

Hello. I had the pleasure of Luke’s company for a day’s photography in the Isle of Skye while he was here working with a couple of local arborists. On one of his days off from tree work he and I explored some of the most scenic parts of the island and the photographic results were excellent.

The Mr Bean car is amazing how lovely for all your German friends and neighbours to experience a bit of English comedy over there! Well done GARY LUKE and William in fetching it over from England.

Ide just like to thank Gary Blackburn for opportunity to work with such an amazing and may I say varied team of tree surgeons.. I came to Germany a year ago, and have found the experience to most interesting and although I have been involved in tree surgery for nearly 20 years, I’ve learned so much more in such a short space of time. The companies work is par excellent, and everyone here prides themselves with providing an exceptional level of tree care and professional working practice.

I would like mention how I enjoyed the visit to Normanby Hall of Kevin driving William in the Mr Bean mini for their photo shoot . Although I was rather surprised when Gary pulled out the Mr Bean masks for you two and Gary to wear!! It was great fun. Well done Kevin for driving that tiny mini back to Germany in convoy . A great family business.
